Join the knowledgeable Tour Guides at St Alfege Church to discover spaces usually closed to the public and hear about the colourful lives of those who served and worshipped in this amazing space. Peer into the crypt's vault and imagine how these would have looked 200 years ago and get a 360-degree view of the church and its suspended ceiling – the largest in Europe when built in the early 18th century – from the galleries.

Visit the galleries of the church for incredible views of the fine interiors and hear more stories about the amazing cast of characters who worked and worshipped in this space. 

Hidden Spaces Tours continue and have a team of dedicated volunteers to guide you through the crypt of the church with stories of extraordinary characters who are buried within the vaults. Find out more about the rules and regulations around burials in the 18th and 19th century. Peer into the vaults and imagine how these would have looked 200 years ago. NOTE: This tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues (There is a degree of bending as the crypt entrance is small and has steep steps).
