About
University of Greenwich Galleries was established in 2013 to manage the expansion of gallery provision resulting from the development of the new academic building on Stockwell Street. There are now three exhibition spaces on the Greenwich Campus: the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, the Project Space, and the Heritage Gallery. Each venue has its own distinct character, both in terms of location and the style and content of its programming. Together, they offer a variety of exhibition experiences to the diverse range of audiences who visit.
The Stephen Lawrence Gallery aims to promote diversity in the representation of visual cultures, primarily through curated group exhibitions showcasing the work of emerging contemporary visual practitioners across a wide range of disciplines—including artists, designers, and architects. The gallery presents a programmed series of six curated exhibitions each year, often accompanied by conferences and workshops. These exhibitions, along with many of the associated events, are open to both the public and University members. In addition, the gallery hosts end-of-year student shows and regularly supports project-based activities within the local community.
