Suor Angelica is a dramaturgical gem where in less than one hour the audience is taken on a journey from laughter to heartbreak, from peace to despair

About

Puccini described this one act opera as his best work, and who are we to argue with that? But aside from being one of the most harmonically rich operatic works of its time, Suor Angelica is a dramaturgical gem where in less than one hour the audience is taken on a journey from laughter to heartbreak, from peace to despair, and from grief to hope.

The story revolves around a community of nuns living in a convent, originally set in the 1600s, in this version they are bringing it closer to modern days, in particular to 1986, where an imminent Royal Wedding is going to change the life of sister Angelica, whose past has remained so far a secret to all other sisters.
