Come along to the National Maritime Museum this October half term for a range of fun creative workshops for families as part of the Season of Identity.

Full Programme:
Adinkra mosaics
(22nd October)
Create your own mosaics out of shells exploring Adinkra symbols in Ghanaian fashion, pottery and symbolic tradition.

Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew! (23rd October)
Make your own ‘ship badges’ to reflect your collective identity as a family. 

World of Watercrafts (24th October)
Your family can design their own watercraft looking at the many ways people around the world travel by water and the journeys they take. 

From Parkas to Pompoms: Arctic Fashions (25th October)
Learn about the cold weather fashions of the Arctic and make your own pompom to take home. 

Cut from the same cloth (26 October)
Get involved with some fabric printing to explore your own identity or be inspired by the different fabrics in our collection, such as their meanings, symbols and the stories behind them. 

Quills and Beads: Making Things Beautiful (27th October)
Learn about quillwork and beadwork in North American indigenous culture and make a friendship bracelet to take home. 

Birds of a Feather (29th October)
Your family can make their own collage birds to explore stories of migration related to our collection.

* These workshops are open to all ages and abilities. You can book free National Maritime Museum tickets in advance or just turn up on the day. Individual sessions cannot be pre-booked in advance, but there will be a number of opportunities to drop in throughout the day.
