About

Climb aboard Cutty Sark this October half term to try your hand at some crafts, meet a cast of historic characters, listen to sea shanties and more.

Programme: 

Character Actors
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-3:30pm, with static performances in the Dry Berth at 11:30am and 2:30pm
Meet colourful characters from Cutty Sark’s past and hear astonishing stories about life at sea in the age of sail.

Turn the Capstan (27th October)
Time: 10:30am-12 noon and 2:00pm-3:30pm
Bring the ship to life and turn the capstan! You'll become part of the crew and learn how sailors on ships like Cutty Sark would have moved heavy weights with rope and teamwork.
* Drop-in session 

Junkyard Ship Building (28th and 29th October)
Time: 11:00am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm
Who can sail the fastest? Create your own boats out of a range of materials and compete in the day-long boat race tournament!
* Drop-in session 

Under 5s Storytelling (30th October)
Time: 11:00am, 12 noon, 2:00pm and 3:00pm [Duration: 30 minutes] 
Venue: Tween Deck
Join in for a STEM-themed storytelling session for under 5s.
* Drop-in session 

Sea Shanty Singers (1st and 2nd November)
Time: 11:45am, 12:45pm and 1:30pm 
Join the resident sea shanty groups at Cutty Sark on the first weekend of every month as they sing a selection of traditional maritime songs.
