A Hymn to the Thames

About

This concert features the premiere of Robert Saxton's A Hymn to the Thames for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra. During the 17m of this piece the soloist takes the role of a ‘piper’ wandering the towpath, celebrating and pondering, ruminating, meditating on the nature of time and the eternal flow from source to estuary as well as conjuring up the spirit of the river. The concert also includes Haydn's celebrated Symphony No.104 'London', and music by Thomas Tallis and Ulysses Kay.
