About

W.A. Drew’s new play about the acclaimed Welsh writer and actor Emlyn Williams, starring Mansel David, receives its premiere public charity performance at The Fan Museum in Greenwich.

Filled with humour, anecdotes, gossip, scandal and tears too, Emlyn – A Divided Life, promises an unforgettable evening of theatre.

Emlyn Williams performed in countless stage and screen productions alongside some of the greatest actors of his generation, including the role of Caligula in the legendary, ill-fated, film of

I, Claudius – “the epic that never was”.

He also wrote two internationally famous plays: The Corn Is Green (recently revived to great success at the National Theatre), and the (twice-filmed), London and Broadway thriller-sensation, Night Must Fall.

This new chamber play features actor Mansel David in an emotional tour de force exploring the life and achievements of a complex and talented man whose close friends included Richard Burton, Bette Davis, Nöel Coward, Charles Laughton, John Gielgud and Laurence Olivier – to name but a few.

Set in the museum’s delightful Painted Orangery, the performance offers an intimate evening of theatre in a unique setting.

The play runs for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes without an interval and is suitable for adult audiences only. Please note that latecomers cannot be admitted once the performance has begun.

Tickets are £25, with a strictly limited number of seats available. Your ticket also includes light refreshments and private entry to the museum from 6:30pm, giving you the opportunity to explore the latest exhibition featuring the work of exciting contemporary fan maker Frédérick Yvan Manuel Gay before the performance.
