Go Bowling at a Victorian Skittle Alley

Try your hand at getting a strike!

Underneath the Old Royal Naval College hides a double-lane skittle alley, built in 1864 by the Navy pensioners who used to live there.

The original lanes, balls and pins are still there for you to have a go with. See if you can get a strike – it’s not easy considering the balls are actually wooden practice cannonballs with no fingerholes!

Make sure to send someone down to the end to return the balls – they didn’t have the fancy system we do today, but the gravity-fuelled ramp does the trick!
