About

General Gordon was been born in a house on Woolwich Common. This square is named after Charles George Gordon, the Victorian military general and imperial warrior of China and Sudan.  The square today is a green open space, and focal point, in the town centre.

General Gordon Square is a green garden square with choice of trees and planting, with larger trees separating it from the surrounding roads. Lawn terraces step down gently to the water scrim which is fully accessible.

The garden is surrounded by some historical buildings and a big screen where you can hang out and watch the news and sport.
