About

Built during the reign of James I, Charlton House is widely acknowledged to be the finest and best-preserved Jacobean mansion in London. Built in the early 17th century for the tutor to Henry, James’s eldest son and the then Prince of Wales, the stunning house is surrounded by immaculately landscaped gardens.

Inside, visitors can admire original Jacobean strapwork ceilings and fireplaces and even grab a free audio guide to learn more about the house’s long history.

Free to visit, Charlton House and Gardens stages regular exhibitions, concerts, tours, talks, events and markets throughout the year.
