GDIF is all about bringing people together in spectacular style. At last year’s Opening Night thousands of people joined local community groups dancing under a giant chandelier in Woolwich, whilst over in Bow, people pulled up their windows and poured onto Roman Road to welcome a giant child puppet.
Togetherness is more important than ever in these isolated times, and GDIF are currently busy planning for this year’s festival, devising ways in which we can safely celebrate together again.
As part of the festival preparations, they are working with artists to come up with activities around the theme of weaving. Weaving is a great way of expressing connections and togetherness, so get involved and have a go at making one of these beautiful fabric plaits for yourself. In taking part you’ll also be joining with others in sharing the strength of community spirit across Greenwich and East London.
Watch the video below to find out how you can get involved. This idea has been created by the French company Gratte Ciel, who will be taking part in the festival later this year.
