Spring has come to London, and Greenwich has several major reasons to celebrate, starting with the reopening of Cutty Sark DLR station on Monday 23 March. We are delighted that the station is operational again after 10 months of closure. The four new escalators and the installation of a new lift will help ease the commute of local Londoners and give visitors better access to the very centre of historic Maritime Greenwich.

Join us in Greenwich this spring for a varied programme of events, performances and workshops, including activities for the kids over the Easter break, and ways to have the perfect day out with friends.

And don’t forget, Greenwich is a focal point for one of the highlights of the capital’s calendar, the London Marathon, held on Sunday April 26. Be part of the festive crowds and celebrate the huge achievements of the thousands of dedicated runners passing through.

From ambling along beside the Thames and gazing at cherry blossoms in Greenwich Park to food markets, yoga classes and craft workshops, find what makes you happy in Greenwich this spring. Here’s our month-by-month pick of upcoming events.

March in Greenwich: we’re about to spring forward

So far, March has given us a hint of spring, but with the clocks going forward on 29 March, we’ll all be noticing more daylight, longer evenings and a promise of not-too-distant warmer weather. Here are some of the amazing activities happening in the final week of March.

  1. The Cutty Sark Street Food Market made a welcome return to Cutty Sark Gardens – just steps away from the reopened Cutty Sark DLR station – on and will be running from 10 am on most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until November.

  2. A brand-new, interactive space-themed adventure launches at the National Maritime Museum on 27 March. Astronomers Take Over is a multi-zone, family-friendly experience, perfect for little ones and anyone with a love for all things space! Slots are available now to keep your stargazers entertained in the Easter holidays.

  3. The end of March is your last chance to catch tours of Women's History Month 2026 at the Royal Observatory, showcasing the contributions women have made to astronomy since the Observatory was founded 350 years ago.

  4. At a loose end on a Tuesday lunchtime? First come, first served spaces are available for free performances at Charlton House on 24 and 31 March. The Tuesday Afternoon Recitals series presents classical concerts featuring extraordinary local musicians, often with talented performers from The Royal College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music. While you’re there, enjoy a springtime walk through Charlton House's historic gardens and grounds. Highlights include the House's original walled gardens, one of James I's mulberry trees, and a summer house attributed to architect Inigo Jones.

  5. Explore local heritage at St Alfege Church on a tour of the vaults, galleries and crypt that aren’t usually open to the public. Knowledgeable guides lead visitors into these hidden spaces that reveal the rich stories of those who lived, worked and worshipped here over the centuries. Book now for 28 March, as well as limited dates in April and May.

April in Greenwich: hop into Easter

April might be known for its showers, but with a long Easter weekend, a couple of weeks off school and this selection of fun-packed events in Greenwich, April is no wash out.

  1. Greenwich Market is even easier to reach in April following the reopening of Cutty Sark DLR, so stop by to shop for unique gifts, eat delicious world foods and enjoy a packed Easter weekend programme. Bring your little ones along to see the children’s entertainer on Friday 3 April (12–2pm), look out for the Easter Bunny on Saturday 4 April, get their face painted on Sunday 5 April (12–2pm), or take part in an arts and crafts workshop on Monday 6 April.

  2. Throughout the school holidays, the National Maritime Museum is hosting free activities inspired by the natural world, while the Cutty Sark has character actors, singing workshops and an Easter trail.

  3. Charlton House is also running an Easter trail, inspired by the magical children’s book Alice in Wonderland. Spaces are available until 11 April.

  4. Set your young explorers a challenge at Eltham Palace and Gardens this school holiday by sending them off on the Easter Quest, which is running daily until 19 April. The venue is also hosting the much-loved annual Spring Fair, on Sunday 18 April, where artisans and makers sell their crafts and designs in the medieval Great Hall and stallholders sell plants outside the mansion.

  5. If you like history and drama, you will love the Tudor Takeover at Old Royal Naval College. Reenactors will be bringing the Tudor court back to life on 18 and 19 April, with a family-friendly day of music, dancing and demonstrations.

  6. The London Marathon takes over the streets on Sunday 26 April. The route starts in Blackheath, passes through Woolwich and Charlton before running alongside the Old Royal Naval College and Cutty Sark at Mile 6. Use the newly reopened DLR to join the runners and supporters at this celebrated event.

  7. And all through the month, keep an eye on Visit Greenwich’s Instagram page, where we’ll be sharing the peak times to see Greenwich Park’s gorgeous cherry blossoms in bloom.
