Escape the Everyday with the Family

A family speak to the captain of the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

If you’re after a day out that’s fun for the grown-ups as well as suitable for little ones
it’s time you escaped to Greenwich. You can banish boredom and mix your day up with a touch of education and exhilaration with one of our more adventurous experiences.

Morning

For the energetic families with early risers start your day with the short walk up through leafy Greenwich Park to the Royal Observatory, reward yourself with breakfast on the terrace of the Astronomy Café, sit back and enjoy the stunning views over Greenwich Park, then you’re ready for your Greenwich day out ticking off two of our Royal Borough’s best attractions Royal Observatory and Cutty Sark. Where better to spend some treasured family time than at the home of time itself, the Royal Observatory, grab an iconic selfie for the family album on the historic Prime Meridian of the World, journey through the Universe without even leaving Greenwich in one of the incredible Planetarium shows, stand beneath the magnificent onion dome and marvel at one of the biggest telescopes in the world and the world-famous Harrison’s Clocks, with so much to explore you can easily lose track of time!
After all that space-themed fun your Greenwich escapade continues onboard the majestic Cutty Sark tea clipper, walk the main deck with the kids as captain and the ship's wheel in their hands, meet the cast of colourful characters, play interactive games, soak up the views of London’s skyline, then it’s time to head below deck to touch the famous copper hull of the ship and see how the crew lived and worked at sea.

Afternoon

With morning conquered, grab some lunch at the Cutty Sark Café or the bright and airy Parkside Café at the National Maritime Museum with expansive views of Greenwich Royal Park. Once the troops are ready for action, your next adventure is sailing on and soaring above the world-famous River Thames with an Emirates Air Line Discovery Experience, one ticket for two amazing attractions.
Use your single Uber Boat by Thames Clippers ticket to drift off down the Thames and relax as your little humans enjoy a mid-afternoon nap filled with fresh air and fascinating sights, you can hop off at any of the river’s piers, to explore more on dry land and fill your afternoon with a steady stream of family fun.

Evening

As the day draws to a close, head back up the river to enjoy your final escapade, a stunning night flight experience on the Emirates Air Line, as you take to the air on London's only cable car, view the sunset over the river, witness a unique perspective of London's captivating night sky and watch the city come alive after dark on the extended night flight, what better way to end and reflect on your Greenwich family day out.
