There’s heaps of half-term Halloween fun at Eltham Palace and Gardens from 24 October to 1 November. Join the Great Pumpkin Party for a devilish disco, themed trails and interactive storytelling. Seasonal selfies snapped in the grounds make superb souvenirs of your family day out. Charlton House’s Children’s Day on 30 October adds to the spooky fun, with a bat-themed Halloween Trail, gruesome tales and prizes for the best creepy costumes. Make your own Dracula-inspired crafts to take home. Greenwich Market goes all ghoulish!
Thursday 29 October marks the return of a local favourite – Park it in the Market: Halloween Special – to award-winning Greenwich Market. Wander among vintage cars and bikes to a banging rock’n’roll soundtrack, surrounded by ghouls, ghosts and creatures of the night. It’s free, fun and full of Halloween kitsch. On 31st October bring the family to choose their spookiest face with face painting and creepy crafts happening from 12pm-2pm at the market’s freaky family day of fun.
Unique Halloween thrills Up at The O2
For a one-of-a-kind evening this Halloween, grab a group of pals and combine a twilight climb at Up at The O2 with a Halloween-themed silent disco. If the 360-degree views of the twinkling London skyline aren’t enough to raise the spirits, the DJ set – taking inspiration from living legends Duran Duran, who are performing on Halloween night in the arena below – will have you Hungry Like the Wolf and howling for more. Eltham Palace and Gardens is hosting 90-minute after-hours tours (26 and 29 October), leading brave participants of all ages to the heart of this historic building. Hear eerie tales and long-lasting legends of folklore and superstition as you explore the way we think of the supernatural. Over at The Queen’s House, the level of horror ramps up with dark tales of tragedy, unsolved mysteries and unexplained happenings that will haunt the intrepid visitors who join this atmospheric tour held over two nights (30 October and 1 November). This memorable storytelling experience is strictly for over-18s.
Take your seats for a spooky show
Pick your level of creepiness this Halloween with a performance or circus show. Prepare to be unsettled by The Séance at Greenwich Theatre, where the dead are watching and the truth is far more dangerous than any ghost story. The atmosphere is thick and something that has been waiting in the shadows will begin to make itself known, leaving the audience chilled to its core. Over at Bob Hope Theatre in Eltham, there are macabre laughs and chaotic capers aplenty with the monster musical Young Frankenstein. Woolwich Works hosts Spooky Circus, where you will be amazed by unbelievable acrobatics.
