Summer Streets is coming to Woolwich | Get Ready for Woolwich Summer Lates
Woolwich is set to come alive this summer as Summer Streets transforms the town centre into a vibrant destination for dining, entertainment and family-friendly experiences from July to September.
As part of the Mayor of London’s Summer Streets initiative, Woolwich will celebrate everything that makes the town centre unique with a packed programme of Woolwich Summer Lates – bringing people together to enjoy the area’s diverse food scene, with outside dining and entertainment well into the evening.
Launching on 10 July, Woolwich Summer Lates will turn key locations including General Gordon Square, Beresford Square and Royal Arsenal Riverside into welcoming spaces for residents and visitors to relax, meet and enjoy the summer atmosphere.
Picnic benches and café-style seating will create new places to eat, drink and socialise, with additional outdoor seating appearing at flagship destinations including Woolwich Works.
Woolwich’s reputation as a hidden culinary gem will take centre stage with the arrival of a World Food Night Market, bringing a delicious mix of global flavours to the town centre. Food huts and trucks will serve up dishes from around the world, alongside the area’s much-loved independent eateries, cafés and historic pubs.
Throughout the summer, visitors can enjoy a programme of entertainment including buskers, street performers as well as the Wimbledon Finals (11 and 12 July) live on the big screen in General Gordon Square.
Woolwich Summer Lates will run until the Woolwich Carnival on 12 September, providing a summer of opportunities to explore, eat, drink and enjoy the town centre from daytime through to evening.
The programme will also complement Woolwich’s wider summer events calendar, including the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, which brings spectacular outdoor performances to the area, opening in General Gordon Square on Friday 21 August.
With food, entertainment, culture and community at its heart, Woolwich Summer Lates will showcase the best of the town centre and create a must-visit summer destination for everyone.
