Make a pair of candle votives from studio clay and tools – a traditional element of meditation

About

The Big Dream is a celebration of human imagination, collated from over 50,000 dreams. A video projection depicting global dreams of what the world will look like in 2030 will be unveiled in Lower Grand Square on 22 February (22.2.22).

The Big Dream asks ‘It’s 2030, what do you see in your dreams?’.

In conjunction with this project, Fiona Veacock will be running clay workshops on 26th February where you can make a pair of candle votives from studio clay and tools. The work will be returned fully glazed and ready for your candles – a traditional element of meditation. What will you dream of as you celebrate calm and focus and gaze at the candlelight?

You will be using hand-building techniques and mark making into the clay before each dish is formed; tools and stamps will be available for this or you can bring your own objects to use as stamps.

Each dish will be fully fired and glazed white, and returned to the Old Royal Naval College in time for Mother’s Day weekend (26th/27th March).

There will also be an additional table for longer free play with clay, which won’t be charged or fired.
