What is Tall Ships?

Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta Fireworks

Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta features an amazing fleet of Tall Ships which will be moored at Greenwich and Woolwich over the Easter weekend 2017.

Visitors will be able to see the ships from special festival villages at Cutty Sark Gardens in Greenwich and the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich from 13 to 16 April.

The ships will be sailing up and down the river Thames between Woolwich and Tower Bridge. Visitors will get an i!dea of what the river looked like in the great age of sail and go on board to find out how it felt to navigate the great oceans. It’s going to be great! There are also tickets available for daytime, evening and fireworks cruises.

The ships are here before the start of a spectacular ocean journey across the Atlantic, visiting seven different countries, and taking part in five races along the way. And it all starts in Greenwich on 13 to 16 April 2017.

The Regatta culminates in a special Parade of Sail when the entire fleet will be on the river at the same time starting from Depytford Creek at 5.00pm on Sunday 16 April.

The event celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation and visits Sines in Portugal, Bermuda and Boston USA, before arriving in Quebec. Up to 40 vessels will be crossing the North Atlantic Ocean and around 3,000 trainees will be taking part either on the whole transatlantic route or on individual race legs between countries.
