Woolwich on the Move

Wonderful Woolwich

Woolwich is an amazing cultural melting pot with transition and change the order of the day. As well as a new cultural district emerging at the Royal Arsenal, new housing and development is on the up.

The redevelopment of Spray Street will create a new landmark destination and gateway to Woolwich town centre. The multi-million pound proposals include a new public square, up to 650 new homes (35 per cent of which will be affordable), an independent cinema, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. The development also includes leisure facilities, a children’s nursery, flexible workspace for start-ups and smaller offices.

Cycling in Woolwich

A state of-the-art leisure centre is planned for the town centre which will include cafes and play areas. The centre will replace the existing Waterfront Leisure Centre and will be situated on the current site of Viscount House, next to General Gordon Square.

Tall Ships

Three council estates are being rebuilt as part of a £269m redevelopment project, bringing new housing to the town centre. Connaught, Morris Walk and Maryon Road/Grove estates are being replaced with energy efficient high-quality mixed tenure homes. The scheme will create 975 additional homes for open market sale, 375 homes for affordable rent and 150 shared ownership homes.

The future’s looking bright!
